Cnet Mercedes Fathom 3D Printing

CNET Features Mercedes & Fathom

In an extended feature on Mercedes, CNET “On Cars” Host Brian Cooley includes his visit to Fathom’s newly expanded facility to explore the ways 3D printing is being used to augment and accelerate automotive innovation. Cooley interviewed Fathom Co-Founders Rich Stump and Michelle Mihevc while touring the company’s downtown Oakland headquarters, learning about the additive technologies on its production floor and the customers using 3D printing to push the limits of manufacturing. The Fathom team recently worked with the Mercedes-Benz Xtron Lab to produce more than 240 electromechanical tiles for an IoT-connected cargo delivery management system in just under 5 weeks. The full show can be viewed below (episode 102), with the Fathom segment running from about the seven-minute mark to thirteen-and-a-half minutes.
