When you ask yourself the question, “Are there machine shops near me?” look no further than Fathom Manufacturing.
We offer over 25 manufacturing technologies, enabling you to simplify your supply chain and bring new products to market faster. The CNC services we offer include CNC milling and turning, wire EDM cutting and more. Our sheet metal fabrication services include a variety of cutting technologies, multi-slide forming and specialty stamping.
We also offer finishing and post-processing services in-house, including welding, bead blasting, deburring and more. That means you don’t need to send your parts to additional vendors for processing.
CNC Milling // During the CNC milling process, the workpiece is held in place while a cutter moves around it. CNC milling can be used to create a finished product from raw material or as a secondary process to add definition. It can be used with metals, glass, plastics, ceramics, elastomers and composites.
CNC Turning // CNC turning is used to create parts with cylindrical features. During the CNC turning process, the workpiece rotates at a high speed while a cutting tool removes material. CNC turning is suitable for a wide variety of materials.
Laser Cutting // Laser cutting utilizes a CNC-controlled, high-powered laser beam to cut, engrave or mark material. Because the kerf width is barely larger than the laser beam, it can be used to cut very fine geometries and complex shapes. The cut is so clean that little or no post-processing is required. Fathom’s laser cutting service can cut a wide range of materials.
Water Jet Cutting // A water jet cutting machine uses a high-pressure water jet to cut a thin line in the selected material. A CNC controller directs the cutting head for high precision and repeatability. Water jet cutting can cut holes, complex shapes and sharp corners. Fathom’s water jet cutting service is ideal for cutting larger or multiple-part projects, thanks to the large work envelope of these cutting machines.
Micro Water Jet Cutting // Microcut™ micro water jet cutting technology is a revolutionary, abrasive waterjet technology, developed to machine flat parts in thicknesses ranging from 0.001″ to 0.125″ with incredible accuracy. It can cut features with tolerances up to .0005″. This cold-cutting method produces finished pieces with no burr, no deformations or discolorations and no heat-affected zones.
Wire EDM Cutting // This technology produces parts with complex geometries and high accuracy. It cuts a conductive metal with a thin electrode wire that follows a CNC-controlled path. The wire carries a high-voltage charge. The resulting spark melts the material adjacent to the wire, resulting in a very precise cut. A dielectric liquid, such as deionized water, cools the metal and flushes away melted metal particles. Wire EDM cutting can be used on titanium, carbon steel, tungsten and other electrically conductive materials.
Multi-Stage Modular Tooling // Need precision forming for prototype parts? We have developed a technique in which we turn an ordinary press brake into a manual progressive die. By combining this dynamic technique with our custom-built in-house tooling, we can easily achieve even the most intricate and complex design specifications.
Four-Slide and Multi-Slide // With this machine, we can produce parts in seconds that take hours to form on a traditional press brake. Four-slide and multi-slide manufacturing is ideal for producing small and intricate springs, brackets, electrical terminals, clips and battery contacts. All tooling is designed and built in-house by our Fathom team.
Specialty Stamping // Our skilled and creative toolmakers can build complex tooling solutions as needed to manufacture even the most challenging stamped parts.
