Nylon 6/6 is also referred to as nylon 6-6, nylon 6,6, polyamide 66 or PA 66. Nylon 6/6 is a popular engineering thermoplastic with excellent abrasion resistance, hardness, and temperature resistance. During nylon 6/6 CNC manufacturing, a computer guides the movements of the equipment, subtracting raw material to make a part. CNC machined nylon 6/6 offers many benefits. Parts made using nylon 6/6 have excellent strength and stiffness, lower moisture absorption, and good abrasion resistance. In addition, parts made from nylon 6/6 offer corrosion resistance. Nylon6/6 is used to make gears, electronic casings, wheels and other structural components.
There are notable differences between nylon 6 and nylon 6/6 that should be noted before manufacturing. Nylon 6 is an excellent material when a lightweight plastic with excellent insulation, toughness, rigidity and hardness is desired. Nylon 6 should not be used in high water temperature environments as it has a higher water absorption rate and low heat deflection rate. Nylon 6/6 performs well when an engineering plastic must be used for high-temperature environments.
